Fieldview Solutions recently completed a two-year study analysing the protective effectiveness of UN human rights field presence. The resulting book can be found here. Dissemination and follow-up work is continuing.

UN DPKO Civil Affairs |
|
Fieldview Solutions runs regular trainings for DPKO Civil Affairs components. These trainings are tailored onsite to adapt to the specific challenges of each location. As of March 2012 they have been carried out in Sudan, Cote D'Ivoire, Haiti, Lebanon, Liberia and the DRC.

Fieldview's Liam Mahony and Roger Nash are regular trainers for OCHA's Protection Capacity-building project (ProCap). These trainings are held several times a year to prepare roster-members from UN partner institutions and NGOs for protection-related deployments with OCHA, UNHCR and UNICEF. The training is also attended by staff from these agencies as well as from OHCHR. The main focus is on transferable context-independent skills such as analysis, planning and communication.

Fieldview has designed a training for the Folke Bernadotte Academy, called Proactive Presence: Field strategies for civilian protection, based on the book of the same name. Fieldview continues to deiver this training every year.

Norwegian Refugee Council |
|
Fieldview Solutions recently carried out a review of the work of the Norwegian Refugee Council during the closing phases of the Sri Lankan civil war. This study examined the dilemmas faced by NRC in dealing with the prolonged internment of IDPs by the Sri Lankan government. An abridged version is available here. Fieldview has continued this collaboration with NRC by writing a think piece (English French) on possible non-military approaches to protection in the Democratic Republic of Congo. |
